This is now possible as Microsoft moving away from proprietary Edge rendering engineering to Chromium instead. Last week Microsoft announced Edge Insider Channels and the daily update Canary Channel now supports macOS. Let’s see what has changed since the 20 years. Fast forward 20 years to today, Microsoft is yet again releasing their latest cutting “Edge” browser on Mac. It was considered as the cutting edge browser and Apple had an agreement with Microsoft that they would support and provide IE as Mac’s default browser. Believe it or not, once upon a time there was Microsoft Internet Explorer running on Mac OS. Back in 1997, Microsoft was in the business of making web browser for Mac OS. In this case, the repetition cycle is around 20 years. I’ve never found that to be much of a roadblock to using Edge as my main browser, but your mileage may vary.History tends to repeat itself. It’s still missing a few features, most importantly the ability to sync your browser history and extensions between devices. I agree it has some missing features however they are not that important to ignore it.Īs I’ve said throughout the development cycle, Edge is a competent Chrome challenger and I have no hesitations to recommend it to anybody who is looking for a browser alternative. However, some of the features like history sync and extension sync are missing but the company has promised to launch it by the end of this year.Īs I have told before, that Microsoft Edge is completely the same as Chrome, so there is no point of not recommending it to anyone. The features like favourites, settings, addresses/contact info, and passwords will all sync will be available in it. As revealed above, the edge is quite similar to chrome.
